Xa Huong Lake is a special artificial freshwater lake, located halfway up the mountain. The lake is located in Minh Quang commune, Tam Dao district, Vinh Phuc province. The lake was built in 1984 with an area of 83ha, a 41m high dam, and has a capacity of more than 12 million m3 of water, enough to irrigate fields all year round for three districts of Tam Dao, Binh Xuyen and Tam Duong. In addition to abundant water resources, this place also has a natural landscape as well as a diverse and rich flora and fauna system. There are many rocky mountains and caves as shelters for birds and animals. Around Xa Huong Lake, there are pine forests interspersed with myrtle flowers and purchased flowers. In the forest, there are many kinds of fruits such as chestnuts, bird's nests, nuts, ...
Around the lake, the hills are interwoven with rocky mountains, most of which are granite, gray-green quartzite and sand dunes. Although there are no mysterious caves like in the limestone mountains, the rocky mountains here have many gorges, many deep concave stone roofs for animals to live in. On the craggy cliffs, on the stumps of hundreds of years old trees are interlaced vines that let birds, squirrels, pass branches. Under the small deep slits is the residence of tens of thousands of bats (so there is a Bat cave in the upstream of Xa Huong Lake).
At present, Xa Huong Lake is also one of the tourist attractions of Vinh Phuc province. Visiting this place, visitors can enjoy not only the natural landscape but also participate in activities such as boating, camping, fishing,...
