1. The process of forming Vinh Phuc Museum
- Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum was established on January 24, 1997 under Decision No. 91/QD–UB of the Provincial People's Committee and was a non-business unit under the Department of Culture, Information and Sports. In which, it is clearly defined that the functions and tasks of the Museum are not only a cultural institution including professional stages (research, collection, inventory, preservation, display and dissemination of museum artifacts) but also have to manage and direct synchronously between conservation and museum work, including: researching, ranking, restoring, embellishing and promoting the effect of historical and cultural relics, traditional festivals system; research, collect, promote the traditional values of studious and Vinh Phuc faculty at the Temple of Literature, and assist in the professional construction of traditional houses and rooms in districts, communes, departments and organizations in the province. Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum has been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee and ranked Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum as a Class II Museum in Decision No. 2636/QD–UB dated 30/11/2000.
- In 2004, the Department of Relics Preservation was separated and acted as the core function to establish the Provincial Management Board of Monuments.
- In 2018, at the Decision No. 1016/QD–UBND, dated April 28, 2020 of the Provincial People's Committee on the reorganization of the Management Board of Monuments and Provincial Museums to Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum.
After more than 25 years of construction and growth under the attention of the province and the close direction of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the work of Vinh Phuc museum has grown and matured in both scale and quality.
Museum professional activities
Every year, Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum implements synchronously all stages of museum professional activities including research, collection, inventory, preservation, display, propaganda and education.
- Scientific research: this is an activity, the foundation and driving force for all activities of the museum.
As a result, from 2000 up to present, Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum has researched and implemented 01 project (Project of displaying interior of Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum Part 2: History of Vinh Phuc province from 1930 to present); research and edit books: Vinh Phuc prehistory, Martyr Nguyen Thai Hoc, Vinh Phuc ethnic minorities, Vinh Phuc pottery and pottery...; conducting research and building 100 outlines of artifact collection, 120 thematic and itinerant exhibitions; research 03 provincial projects; build 01 dossier to request the Prime Minister to recognize it as a national treasure (Tor pagoda enameled ceramic tower)... In parallel with the research work at the unit, the Provincial Museum also conducts research on documents and history in Vinh Phuc and concurrently organize surveys, field trips, meetings, recording stories, exploiting documents of historical witnesses and revolutionary elders; research and write hundreds of news, articles and topics on Vinh Phuc cultural heritage to send and publish in specialized magazines, newspapers, and web portals at central and local levels.
- Collection work: Provincial Museum has concentrated resources to organize many large-scale collections. As a result, 6,000 artifacts were collected through the following forms: collecting in localities inside and outside the province, receiving from archaeological excavations in the province such as Dong Dau, Lung Hoa, Go Hoi, Yen Lap; receive donations from organizations, individuals, private collectors of antiquities, families with meritorious services to the revolution, members, soldiers... who have participated in the cause of revolutionary struggle and liberation nation, building and defending the country. In general, the results of the above research and collection programs have helped the Museum to have the right orientation, effectively implement the addition and correction of the permanent display, organize thematic exhibitions, and promote the value of the cultural heritage.
- Inventory: The museum has made records, resumes, system of books, posters for 12,000 artifacts. In addition, the museum has completed the inventory of data entry according to the software of the Department of Cultural Heritage, strictly implemented the Regulation on inventory of museum artifacts of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as numbering artifacts, typical are collections of Vietnamese ancient coins, archaeological artifacts of Dong Dau, Lung Hoa, artifacts of the province's traditional craft villages: Huong Canh pottery, Hai Luu stone, Ly Nhan forging and a collection of war memorabilia.
- Preservation: preserving more than 21,563 objects and documents of all kinds, inorganic and organic, in accordance with the regime, serving well the work of storage, preservation and display as collections of wood, paper, metal artifacts at the base warehouse, human remains belonging to Phung Nguyen culture at the gallery. Additionally, the provincial museum preserved of national treasures which is the ceramic tower of Tro pagoda, Yen Phuong commune, Yen Lac district.
- Exhibition work: The museum has regularly adjusted, embellished and improved the display method of phase 1 (Vinh Phuc prehistoric period to 1930) to improve the quality of content and form of the display system to serve visitors.
In particular, the museum inaugurated and put into use the exhibition system phase 2 in 2018 (History of Vinh Phuc province from 1930 to present). The completion of this part of the interior display is very important, contributing to supplementing and overcoming the lack of content to ensure the transparency and comprehensiveness of the regular display system. At the same time, the investment and installation of new and modern display equipment such as LED lighting, touch screen, audio-visual system, sound and light ... have brought practical effects, making richness and increasing the attractiveness of the museum display, which is highly appreciated by visitors.
In addition to the permanent display system, the Museum has focused on promoting and successfully organizing 70 thematic exhibitions such as "Vinh Phuc Cultural Heritage", "Dong Dau - 40 years of discovery and research", "Vinh Phuc Traditional Craft Village", "Doi Moi - A Journey of Dreams", "Kim Ngoc - a pioneer in the innovation journey", "President Ho Chi Minh with the Party Committee and people of Vinh Phuc Phuc", "Cultural heritage of the Ly - Tran dynasties on Vinh Phuc land", "Vinh Phuc - a sacred land of masterpieces", "Tay Thien in history", "Hoang Sa, Truong Sa - historical and juridical"…
Through permanent exhibitions and thematic exhibitions, the Museum has contributed to introduce and promote the history, cultural heritage, images of Vinh Phuc land and people to domestic and international visitors; traditional education for the young generation, and at the same time bringing Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum into a cultural and tourist destination in the journey of sightseeing and tourism in Vinh Phuc province.
1.2. Relic conservation activities.
- Regarding the ranking of relics: Prepare a scientific dossier to request the competent authority to rank 242 relics, of which: 03 special national-level relics, 03 national-level relics, and 236 grade-level relics. conscious.
- Regarding the preservation and restoration of relics: preservation, renovation and embellishment shall be carried out with the state budget and socialization sources.
- Regarding preventing violations of relics: regularly coordinate with functional agencies and localities to inspect and handle violations in the protection and promotion of cultural heritage values related to zoning of heritage sites, relic safety, restoration, embellishment...
- Regarding the protection of relics and antiquities and promoting the value of tangible cultural heritage: conducting an inventory of relics and antiquities, checking the status quo at 03 special national monuments, 65 high-ranking national relics, more than 400 provincial monuments; examine and make statistics of relics in districts and cities such as Vinh Tuong, Vinh Yen, Lap Thach, Song Lo, Tam Dao, Tam Duong; coordinate with the Department of Culture and Information of districts and cities to organize training courses on the conservation and promotion of the value of tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the locality.
1.3. Intangible cultural heritage conservation activities
- About the inventory: conduct an inventory of intangible cultural heritage in the province according to Circular No. 04/TT-BVHTTDL dated June 30, 2010 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Publicize an inventory list with 571 heritages of 07 types existing in 135 communes, wards and townships; of which 526 heritages are existing and well maintained, 16 are still in existence but in danger of being lost, and 29 have been lost.
- Regarding the registration of intangible cultural heritage: prepare a dossier to request the competent authority for registration. In August 2021, Vinh Phuc province has 01 representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity (the heritage of Song Song in Huong Canh - Binh Xuyen) and 06 other heritages included in the list of intangible cultural heritages of nation.
- Regarding the teaching and promotion of intangible cultural heritage:
+ The teaching of intangible cultural heritages, especially folk performing arts, is relatively well done. Currently, the whole province has 27 folk dance clubs of ethnic minorities in San Diu and Cao Lan with hundreds of students aged from 60 to 70 years old. Cheo singing clubs in Tho Tang (Vinh Tuong), Yen Dong (Yen Lac), Tan Phong (Binh Xuyen) and Duc Uncle Drum singing clubs (Song Lo district) operate very effectively. Besides the achievements in the transmission of traditional art, other forms such as: folk knowledge (food, medicine, etc.), traditional craft, and folk performances (running the plow, casting). buddhism, four people, etc.) are well preserved.
+ Restore 06 traditional festivals including: Phu Ca communal house festival (Lien Hoa commune, Lap Thach district), Thinh temple festival (Tam Hong commune, Yen Lac district), Buddha festival (Dong Tinh commune, Tam district) Duong), Cotton Plant Robbery Festival (Dong Thinh Commune, Song Lo District), Plow Running Festival (Hoang Dan Commune, Tam Duong District), Ngu Doi Temple Festival (Vinh Ninh Commune, Vinh Tuong District)...
+ Honoring artisans: Having selected documents to submit to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration and awarding 25 titles including: 01 title of "People's Artisan", 24 titles of "Excellent Artisan". Of which 23 titles are in the category of Folk Performing Artists, 02 are in the category of Artists of Social and Beliefs.
1.4. Activities to exploit and promote the Temple of Literature in the province.
- The Provincial Temple of Literature is located at No. 1, Dang Dung Street, Lien Bao Ward, Vinh Yen City, inaugurated (phase 1) in 2017. The area is more than 4.2ha, including the stele house, ceremony yard, front house, harem, left-right house... Every year, the provincial Temple of Literature welcomes and serves 20,000 visitors.
- In the past time, the provincial Temple of Literature has well performed the function of guiding, propagating and educating about Vinh Phuc's academic tradition through a system of worship, epitaphs, and materials in kind to the public; organizing activities to honor and commend collectives and individuals with achievements in study and work and organizing experience activities, traditional folk games imbued with the cultural identity of localities in the province.
1.5. Special cooperation activities
In the past 20 years, Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum has welcomed and served more than 1 million visitors.
+ The museum organizes sightseeing programs associated with traditional education such as the "I love history" club program, participating in the "Summer experience" course for students.
+ Propaganda and promotion about Vinh Phuc Museum, Vinh Phuc cultural heritage, in which focus on introducing national treasures Tro pagoda enameled ceramic tower and 3 special national relics (architectural and artistic relics) Binh Son Tower, Tay Thien - Tam Dao scenic relic, Tho Tang communal house architectural relic) on Vietnam Television, Vinh Phuc Radio and Television Station, Vinh Phuc Provincial Portal, National Defense Television, Vinh Phuc Newspaper, Cultural Heritage magazine…
- Specialized cooperation activities: over the years, the Provincial Museum has cooperated with agencies and units to organize research, collection and display activities to preserve and promote national heritage values.
+ With organizations and units in the province: coordinate, help, organize the construction and display of traditional houses, traditional rooms and organize exhibitions to introduce the achievements of the locality, industry and the quintessence of Vinh Phuc cultural heritage.
+ With Central Museums: in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh Museum, Institute 69 - High Command to protect Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Vietnam Military History Museum, Press Museum, Archives Center National 3, Hung Vuong Museum to exchange, provide information on artifacts and organize exhibitions on topics to introduce the national cultural heritage, the homeland's sea and islands, and the socio-economic achievements of nation and Vinh Phuc
+ With foreign experts: Coordinate with experts from Sichuan Institute of Archaeological Research (China), experts from Kashinara Archaeological Research Institute (Japan) to study Phung Nguyen culture on Vinh Phuc land, Office of the Vien Dong Bac Co School in Hanoi studied ceramics from the 15th to the 18th centuries at the base warehouse of the Provincial Museum.
Recognizing the achievements, the Provincial Museum was honored to be awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister in 2004; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the Emulation Flag of the leading unit of National Museums in 2002; In 2019, the Provincial People's Committee awarded the Excellent Emulation Flag, Certificate of Merit and the title of Excellent Labor Collective for many years.
It can be said that, through the process of construction and development, Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum has constantly grown with a team of officers and employees who are more and more mature, capable and qualified, meeting the real requirements, have enough conditions to successfully complete the tasks with increasing scope and level of research and organization. The museum has constantly strengthened its connection with central museums and provincial museums in professional activities; really become a scientific and cultural center, exchange in the field of museums, conservation and promotion of heritage.
